Custom Fields provide the ability to enter precise information in records.
NOTE: All fields are "cross-type". This means that if you add a new field to contract type NDA, it will be added to the Fields list and is available to place on the layouts of all other contract types (MSA, SOW, etc.). HINT: If you don't need the field in a particular contract type, leave it in the Fields list and just don't add it to the layout.
NOTE: The Add Field button is NOT available when configuring Request Type layouts. Instead, create the field in a Contract Type layout, and once saved, will appear as a field option when in the Request Type layout.
Follow the steps below to add a Custom Field to a record layout:
From the homepage, click
to open the Application Settings, and then select
from the Settings menu.
Select an Object Type from the drop-down, for example, Contract.
Select a record type to open the layout for that type; for example, NDA.
When the layout opens, click .
Define the Field Settings (for more information, click the Field Settings link and a list of properties than can be changed.)
Click . The Field Settings pop-up closes, and the new field appears in the Fields list on the right-hand side of this layout and all other layouts for that object type.
