Clauses are pre-written segments or blocks of text (not already in Contract Logix) that are utilized in Contract Templates, and these templates are used to generate "First party" or "Your paper" Contract documents.
NOTE: Clauses and Templates are a feature available only in accounts which have paid for them.
Understanding Compound Fields
Compound fields are used to merge multi-party data, such as the names and addresses of multiple organizations, into a document. One pre-defined compound field named “Name and Address” is supplied with the system (see example below), or you can create your own compound fields. You select the fields to merge and a delimiter (like “and”) to link the parties and the system dynamically merges the data from all parties listed in the record.
How to Create a new Compound Field
Follow the steps below to create a new Compound Field.
Access the Application Settings. Next, click
.At the top, click
.Choose an Object from the drop-down (Contact, Document, or External Organization).
Click the
button.Choose field(s) from the Fields list. Selected fields are added to the Field Template box. Add text and/or punctuation for each entity around the fields as needed. For example:
Enter a delimiter, such as the word "and". Include any necessary spaces and/or punctuation in the delimiter.
Click the
button.Finally, click the
button.
NOTE: The Reset button clears everything from the Field Template box. Use Backspace or Delete to remove a single field.
How to Edit a Compound Field you Created
Follow the steps below to edit an existing Compound Field.
Access the Application Settings. Click

.On the left, select the existing compound field, make the changes in the editor.

How to Add a Compound Field to a Clause
Follow the steps below to add a Compound Field to a Clause.
Add a Standard (non-repeating) clause (you do not use a Repeater clause for this type of insertion.) Insert the cursor where you want to insert the compound field.
Locate and click the Plugins tab in the editor.
Click the
button.Click to open the section labeled Compound Fields.
Select the field name (e.g., "Organizational Address for 3rd-Party").
The Compound Field is added into the Clause.
