From a Contact, Contract, or Organization Object Record you can hover over 
and use Send Email to send emails from the record or, use Email History track what email communications have been sent pertaining to the current record being viewed, as seen in the graphics below:
NOTE: Users will need to have Feature Access permission to use Send Email and/or view Email History on a record.
