Information on and how to Lock or Unlock a Contract record in Contract Logix

The Lock option locks the record, preventing changes. When to use: You want to prevent users from changing the record.

NOTE: Locking a contract record does not prevent editing any documents associated with the locked contract.

How to lock a contract record

  1. Select Lock from the menu.

  2. Enter Notes in the comments box.

  3. Click OK.

A banner across the top of the record informs users that “The record is locked”. No further changes can be made unless an authorized user unlocks it using the UNLOCK button.

The Stage and Status Tracking grid has a new entry indicating the record has been Locked. The user who initiated the lock, the date and any comments that were entered appear in the grid.

How to unlock a contract record

Authorized users can Unlock a manually locked record at any time. NOTE: Previous versions that were locked by the system when a new version is created cannot be unlocked.

  1. Open the locked record.

  2. Click and select Unlock.

  3. Enter Notes in the comments box and click OK.

Only users whose role has the Feature Access “Contracts-Unlock” enabled (turned ON) can unlock contracts.
